The Ortler is one of the most famous peaks of the Eastern Alps. With almost 4000 meters it is the highest mountain in South Tyrol. The gigantic and impressive north face with its adjoining extensive glacier is visible from afar and is famous and notorious among mountaineers. Both the normal route, as well as the Hintergrat and other climbs, are among the great alpine challenges of the Eastern Alps.
The tour price includes both accommodation and half board.

Day 1
We meet at the parking lot of the Langenstein chairlift in Sulden. After equipment check we hike to today's accommodation of the Payerhütte. The path leads us along under the gigantic north face of the Ortler. And later on a challenging path to the hut. Ascent 1300hm, 3-4h
Day 2
We early leave for the summit destination after the restorative breakfast. The trail leads over challenging rocky terrain with many wire insurances and later over the extensive and rugged glacier. During the ascent, climbing passages up to the 3rd degree of difficulty have to be mastered, as well as glaciated terrain up to 40° slope. 900 hm and 3-4h later we are finally at the summit of King Ortler. Unbelievable but true, there is no Higher Peak in the surrounding area. So at this point everything lays below us. Soon the long descent into the valley is imminent. Here you have to cope with 2100 meters of altitude difference in the descent. Ascent 900hm, descent 2100hm, 9-10h
