In the Lüsenstal in Sellrain there is a large number of icefalls of varying difficulty. There are, for example, the comparatively simple falls such as the Gasthausfall and the Easy Afternoon, but there are also challenging icefalls such as the Hanging Gardens. In this quiet valley head we can fully concentrate on one of the most beautiful sports in the world - ice climbing.

The target group for this course are people who already climb and want to get started with ice climbing, or people who have already had some experience with ice climbing and now want to deepen it.

For a fee of €30 per day, mountaineering boots suitable for use with crampons can be hired from us. We kindly ask for a separate reservation stating your shoe size to info(at)alpinschule-garmisch.de

First day

We meet in the Lüsenstal and, after a short welcome and a material check, make our way to the inn. From there we'll start with a backup update so we're all on the same page and spend the rest of the afternoon toprope climbing on ice screw placement, punch technique and ice climbing footwork.

Second day

This day is dedicated to the two training points "Belay construction" and "Preparation for ice climbing in the lead".
We have the whole day here to deal with individual questions and prepare ourselves well for our tour the next day.

3rd day

The "Easy Afternoon" tour with a difficulty level of WI 4 and a length of around 70 meters is our daily goal today.

Base/hut: Alpengasthof Lüsens
Minimum number of participants: 4 participants
Extra cost:
- Overnight stay/board: 2 nights in a double or triple room with half board (180 euros)
- We reserve the overnight stay for you, so you only have to pay on site.
Services included:
- Guided tour by a state-certified mountain and ski guide
- Included rental equipment: crampons, ice tools, helmet, harness
Requirements for the participants:
- Miscellaneous: mastering the safety technique when climbing
Needed Equipment:
- Warm mountain boots that can be used with crampons (can be hired for €30/day)
- weatherproof and weather-adapted clothing

Perfekte Orga und ein super schöner Tag im Eis
Von der telefonischen Buchung bis zur Zusendung der Kursbilder nach dem Kurs hat hier wirklich alles perfekt geklappt. Die Alpinschule Garmisch ist zwar nicht die billigste Bergschule in Garmisch, aber dafür bekommt man hier auch wirklich etwas für sein Geld.
Freue mich schon tierisch darauf im Sommer wieder mit euch auf die Zugspitze zu gehen. Ein dickes Lob auch an unseren Bergführer Stephan.

Perfekte Kurslocation
Vielen Dank für den super Kurs. Die Auswahl der Location wie auch die Unterkunft war wirklich perfekt. Keine Anfahrtswege mehr zu den Eisfällen mit dem Auto und super Eis. Immer wieder gerne!

Super Kurs und Orga
Das Eisklettern hat mir sehr gut gefallen, an dieser Stelle ein dickes Lob an den Bergführer. Mir gefiel es sehr gut das man von der Unterkunft aus zu Fuß zum klettern gehen konnte. Außerdem war die Orga echt klasse.

Fantastic Ice Climbing Weekend!
The course was just great! Perfect weather and conditions for three days of climbing. Franz, our guide was just awesome! He provided great instruction and demonstration and answered all of our questions. He was able to teach the course in English and in Deutch which my friend and I greatly appreciated and that meant so much for us. We cant wait to come back for more climbing with Franz in the future! Thanks so much to the Alpinschule Garmisch for such a wonderful course!
