The Geierwand via ferrata is ideal for families, beginners and connoisseurs. The difficulties do not exceed the difficulty level C and in the steep places there are solid pedaling aids. The hiker can expect beautiful and perfectly secured climbing passages and a breathtaking deep view of the Inntal. On this day we meet in the morning at a parking lot at the Inn and can already see the via ferrata here. Before we make our way to the approx. 15 minute ascent, we put on our safety equipment consisting of helmet, harness, and via ferrata set and follow the path comfortably to the entrance.
Over terraced terrain we climb off – absolutly perfect to warm up. In the middle part, the first steeper places await us with a via ferrata rating up to C. But the rope insurance is really practical here and step pins make it very possible for us to get up in the steep wall. Again and again there are smaller platforms on which we can gather and rest. As a highlight, we cross a rope bridge in the upper part and take some breathtaking photos as a souvenir. Over steep upswings we continue climbing until we finally reach the chamois band. Slowly the terrain recedes and we reach a piece of forest, from which we cross a ramp on the hiking trail. Once at the top, we enjoy the view on a beautiful bench in the forest with a snack and have time to be proud of our achievement. Then we descend the partly steep, but also well insured path to the foot of the wall and follow the marked path back to the parking lot.
Once here, the cool Inn is already waiting for us and invites us to let our feet dangle into the refreshing water. A beautiful climbing game comes to an end.
The Geierwand via ferrata is also ideal as a guided tour for sporty families and motivated children over 9 years.
