The path over the Reintal to the Zugspitze 2962m is not only a scenic impressive experience, but also allows sure-footed hikers without experience in climbing under the guidance of a professional mountain guide the highest peak in Germany to climb on their own. The path taken in 1820 by the first climbers of the Zugspitze is not only the technically easiest way, but also the longest route. Good condition for moderate climbs of 4-6 hours, the participant should still bring.
Day 1
We meet at the traditional Olympic ski stadium and after a short equipment check we make our way through the impressive Partnach gorge. Following the Reintal westward, we reach the beautifully located Bockhütte after about 3 hours. There we have coffee and cake and then follow the beautiful path along the Partnach towards Reintalangerhütte, our today's destination. Here we visit - before or after dinner - the origin of the Partnach, our tired feet can cool in the river right in front of the hut and we enjoy the flair of the beautiful cabin.
Day 2
Today we climb the ascent to the summit of the Zugspitze and so we get up early and march through the still wet meadows to the steep upswing on the Zugspitzplatt. At a moderate pace, we continue to climb and reach after a while the first stopover - the prominenty located, but late recognizable Knorrhütte. This really invites us to take a short rest here and to wander with our gaze along the Jubiläumsgrat. But we still have a good distance ahead of us and so we make our way on the sometimes steep, sparse Zugspitzplatt. Arriving at the Sonnalpin, we strengthen ourselves one last time and prepare ourselves for what is probably the most difficult part of the tour - the last 400 vertical meters lead through the rope-insured south wall of the Zugspitze. Concentrated and slow, we master this hurdle and allow ourselves to be welcomed by the crowds of the Zugspitz summit. With the cable car or the rack railway we drive into the valley and finally land again at the train station in Garmisch. An unforgettable experience is coming to an end - but the summit photos remind us for a long time of our ascent of the Zugspitze!
