The Wildspitze, at 3,768 m, is the highest mountain in Tyrol and one of the most impressive peaks in the entire Eastern Alps. The ascent via the normal route is considered a classic high-alpine tour which, despite moderate technical difficulty, offers a full alpine experience: impressive glacier terrain, a magnificent summit ridge, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Our two-day tour with an overnight stay at the Breslauer Hut offers the ideal combination of proper acclimatization, solid preparation, and an early summit start. This allows you to approach the tour in a relaxed manner while benefiting from optimal conditions in high-alpine terrain.

Day 1 – Ascent to the Breslauer Hut and preparation for the high-alpine tour
After meeting in Vent, we ascend on a well-maintained trail to the Breslauer Hut. The hiking time is approximately 2–2.5 hours and serves as an easy warm-up for the following summit day. At the hut, there is plenty of time for a comprehensive technical briefing and possibly a short acclimatization tour to the Wilde Mandl. Alternatively, participants can use the nearby climbing garden to review essential crevasse rescue techniques. A shared dinner and an overnight stay at the comfortable hut round off the day.

Day 2 – Ascent of the Wildspitze
Early in the morning, equipped with headlamps, we set off along the well-marked path toward the Mitterkarferner. We soon reach the Mitterkarjoch, where we put on our via ferrata equipment and complete the via ferrata (grade B/C). At the col, we don the remaining glacier gear and proceed across the Taschachferner toward the Wildspitze, surrounded by impressive high-mountain scenery. The ascent is steady but not excessively technical, demanding primarily solid crampon technique and good physical fitness. Shortly before the summit, a broad rocky ridge leads us to the highest point in Tyrol within just a few minutes. From the summit, you can enjoy a magnificent view over the Ötztal, the Pitztal Alps, the Wildspitze Group, and far beyond.

The descent follows the same route back to the Breslauer Hut, where a short break is possible. We then descend together to Vent, where the tour concludes in the late afternoon.

This tour is ideal for mountaineers who already have experience in alpine terrain and wish to experience a classic but not overly difficult high-alpine tour under the professional guidance of a certified mountain guide.
