Our Alpine crossing for beginners, bon vivants and families takes place in 6 stages through 3 countries - from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the south of Merano. The tour is aimed at all those, at which the hiking enjoyment and the experience of a unique mountain world, the alpine culture and the rich flora and fauna of the Alps stands in the foreground.
The route runs on mostly light (blue) to short distances and medium (red) hiking trails through the breathtaking and magnificent mountain scenery of the Wetterstein, as well as the Stubai and Ötztal Alps. As a first highlight we visit the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze, from where you have a breathtaking view at our following stages. We walk away from the overcrowded long-distance trails through varied landscapes, where there is often opportunity to observe marmots, chamois and birds of prey. The latter can even be experienced first hand when visiting a bird of prey park. We also take time to learn about the history, the origin, as well as flora and fauna of the Alpine region.
Most of the time we stay in guesthouses and hotels in the valley, so that we can start well rested in the next stage. Of course, the rustic mountain lodge may not be missing on this tour. For example, the Pforzheimer Hütte and the Schweinfurter Hütte serve as "alpine overnight stays" on this tour.
In this week, enjoyment is in the foreground, both with hiking, as well as with traditional Bavarian, Tyrolean and South Tyrolean cuisine. Furthermore, we enjoy the luxury of the luggage transfer, which gives us the opportunity to provide us with fresh clothes at every second day and in Merano.
Although the tour is really aimed at beginners and families, you should still be able to walk uphill and downhill on gravelly ground and meet the conditional requirements of the tour! Children and adolescents, depending on their level of development, motivation and physical fitness, can participate in this tour with the parent or guardian from the age of 9 years.
