Freeride run "Neue Welt" Zugspitze
The freeride descent from the Zugspitze via the "Neue Welt" to the Ehrwalder ski area is probably one of the most impressive descents in the northern Alps. With almost 2000 meters of descent and a steepness of sometimes over 40 degrees it requires a very good skiing skills off the slopes. The nearly 60-meter high abseiling in the lower part of the freeride downhill,. The "Neue Welt" is therefore the ultimate deep snow experience for all freeriders.
Procedure:We meet at the Ehrwalder Zugspitzbahn and take the cable car on the Zugspitze and down to Zugspitzplatt. From there we have to cope with about 200 vertical meters in the ascent and reach after half an hour the abandoned old Schneeferner station north of the Schneefernerkopf. Here begins the very steep and narrow descent into the "New World". After endless powder fun, we finally come to the abseil point via a short insured climb. Once this has been overcome, a relatively narrow steep gully awaits us. It becomes wider again and after many more slopes we finally reach the Ehrwald ski area.
