We'll show you how to save energy and how to use your poles to help you walk. You will learn the most important walking techniques with snowshoes – how to move efficiently on flat terrain, uphill, across slopes and downhill. We will show you how to save energy, step safely and move in a controlled way even in deep snow. Another focus is on the correct behaviour in different types of terrain: how do you react on steep passages, how do you use your poles effectively, and how do you find a suitable track? You will also learn how to plan tours in winter and what to look out for when orienting yourself and evaluating dangers. Of course, equipment also plays an important role: you will learn how to adjust snowshoes correctly, what to look for in footwear, clothing and backpacks, and what equipment is essential for every tour.
At the end of the course, you will not only be more confident on snowshoes, but you will also have a better sense of what decisions are important along the way – whether it's choosing a trail, dealing with the group or recognising your own limits. The end goal is for you to embark on your next winter tours with greater confidence, self-assurance and enjoyment.
