Do you love the untouched and snow-covered mountains? Would you like to experience nature up close and enjoy the silence? Then you should definitely try snowshoeing! Dive into the enchanting winter world of the Wetterstein Mountains with our mountain guides and explore untouched snowy landscapes and mountain worlds. Snowshoes are a traditional means of transport with a long tradition. This type of locomotion has been gaining in popularity for years. Whether old or young, leisurely or sporty, with or without friends and family, with our snowshoe hikes, everyone gets their money's worth. At our snowshoe workshop weekend in the Garmisch ski area, you will learn everything you need to know about snowshoe hiking and what you need to bear in mind when "being out and about" in the wintry mountains. The Kreuzeckhaus offers the perfect accommodation for this. You will also learn how to plan your own tour and what to watch out for when snowshoeing with regard to the risk of avalanches. Another focus is on handling the possibly life-saving avalanche transceiver equipment.
Process:
Day 1:
Meeting point Kreuzeckbahn valley station. After a joint equipment check, we take the train to our accommodation, the Kreuzeckhaus. After we have moved into our rooms, a snowshoe hike is already on the agenda. We hike comfortably up to the Osterfelderkopf. Here we have the opportunity to strengthen ourselves with coffee and cake. And of course we won't let the gigantic view from the Alpspix take us away. In the evening there is still a small theory part, we plan the tour for the next day together. We pay great attention to possible danger spots. In addition, we address any uncertainties regarding the walking technique with snowshoes. (ascent approx. 400hm)
Day 2:
After a hearty breakfast we will soon leave. It goes out into the winter landscape. We hike along the route to the Stuiben planned the night before. On the way back, there might be one or two detours into deep snow slopes. The cozy hut on the Hochalm invites you to take a break and have a bite to eat. After a last stop together in the Kreuzeckhaus, it's easy to take the train down to Garmisch. (ascent approx. 400hm)

The Kreuzeckhaus - your ideal base at 1,652 m
The Kreuzeckhaus is a central base for our courses in the Garmisch-Classic area - both in summer and winter. Thanks to its perfect location right next to the Kreuzeckbahn mountain station, it offers you an ideal starting point for your course.
Booking
We have already reserved your places in the Kreuzeckhaus for your booked course. You do not have to worry about booking accommodation - you only pay the costs for your overnight stay, snacks, half board and drinks on site.
Room allocation
We always reserve multi-bed rooms if they are available. At the Kreuzeckhaus this usually means accommodation in rooms for 2-3 people. If there are no more shared rooms available, we will book places in the dormitory as an alternative. The dormitories offer space for groups of 5 to 20 people.
Twin rooms are only available in exceptional cases. Rebooking to smaller rooms can only be checked on site and in consultation with the hut staff.
Please note: The final allocation of rooms is made by the hut staff. Changes may be necessary at short notice, over which we unfortunately have no influence.
Practical comfort for our guests
After the ascent with the Kreuzeckbahn, we leave our overnight luggage directly at the Kreuzeckhaus. So we start the course relaxed and with light luggage. For your convenience, we recommend that you store your overnight luggage separately in a small extra bag in your rucksack so that it only needs to be taken out of the rucksack when you arrive at the Kreuzeckhaus.
If there is enough snow down to the valley, the descent on the second day is of course also via the piste to the Kreuzeck parking lot. If your group skis down into the valley, please make sure that the additional overnight luggage is stowed in the rucksack. This gives you full freedom of movement and your equipment stays safely in place.
Prices & payment
Prices for your overnight stay and half board can be found under the following link: https://kreuzeckhaus.net/index.php/uebernachten/
At the Kreuzeckhaus you can pay amounts from € 15 conveniently by EC card. However, we recommend that you bring sufficient cash with you.
