The "Safe Mountain Hiking" course series is aimed at all people who want to hike in the mountains with the greatest possible safety and reduce the residual risk to a minimum. It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner who wants to gain access to this subject area or an experienced mountain hiker who wants to expand or refresh your knowledge. The modular course system enables anyone who is interested to book the right modules for themselves. The "Safe Mountain Hiking" course series consists of the following courses, which logically build on one another, but can also be attended individually:
•Part 1: Equipment and accommodation when hiking in the mountains (2 days)
•Part 2: Training in sure-footedness, walking technique and overcoming fear of heights (2 days)
• Part 3: Correct tour planning for mountain hiking (1.5 days)
•Part 4: Orientation with map, compass & GPS (2 days)
•Part 5: Emergency management & first aid in the mountains (2 days)
•Part 6: Meteorology in the mountains (1 day)
2-day course: training in sure-footedness, walking technique and overcoming fear of heights.
The terms sure-footedness and a head for heights can be found in almost all tour descriptions in hiking guides and on the Internet, as well as in many course descriptions from mountain schools and travel agencies. But what exactly do these mean and how can I improve my skills in these two areas?
We will deal with this and many other questions on this two-day course. We will stay overnight at the Kreuzeckhaus, our ideal base for many beautiful tours of varying degrees of difficulty. In addition to many extensive footstep training courses in different types of terrain, improving the head for heights and dealing with fear of heights, the focus will be on walking mountain hiking trails of different difficulty with and without hiking poles. We will walk various mountain hiking trails, mountain paths and alpine climbs, learn to distinguish between them and always work out the best walking techniques for the respective underground and the respective terrain. Of course, we also address the issue of a head for heights and fear of heights and present techniques to improve or overcome them. After this two-day course, each participant will know how to further practice and improve their personal hiking skills in order to be even safer in the mountains. This course is also ideal as preparation for crossing the Alps.
