The via ferrata week on Lake Garda is really pure vacation feeling! In the mediterranean sun we will climb the rock walls with their via ferratas. Also a delicious ice cream and an Italian espresso should not be missing. During the week we go to the Eldorado for via ferrata friends and those who want to become one. Lake Garda offers everything a via ferrata enthusiast's wishes for, rugged and steep rock faces, breathtaking views into the depth and plenty of sun. This week is the perfect holiday for all sun-seekers after a long winter or those who want to enjoy a few warm days in autumn. Even if it is still or already cold, grey and rainy, you will find the best climbing days in the SarcaTal because of the warm Climate.
schedule
Day 1 (arrival day)
After we all arrived at the accommodation, we want to make a short "climb in"session . Our destination is the nearby Colodri. Through it´s east wall ,with its partly vertical rock, leads a surprisingly easy and short via ferrata, the Sentiero attrezzato dei Colodri. A excellent tour to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings. On the summit we enjoy the snack with a fantastic view over the entire Sarca Valley and Lake Garda. (difficulty B/C, 2h, ascent about 300hm)
Day 2
Today a via ferrata delicacy is waiting for us. Through the steep east wall of the Cima SAT leads a ladder via ferrata with magnificent deep views, here you need a good head for heights and a little courage, because from time to time the ladder which leads 70 m high take a lot of will power.
Day 3
After yesterday's very exhausting day, we have planned the Sentiero della Laste on the Cima Capi for today. Distributed in our cars we drive to the small village of Biacesa in the Ledro Valley, from where our tour starts.
This historic via ferrata is not characterized by any particular difficulties, but offers incredibly beautiful views. The route runs partly along impressive old front paths and through dilapidated trenches. At the summit we are rewarded with a breathtaking deep view over Lake Garda and our brought snack. Back to the cars we can refresh ourselves after a short driving time of 5 minutes at Lake Ledro.
Difficulty A/B, 5h, 430hm
Day 4
Today a via ferrata of the extra class is waiting for us. The Via Ferrata Ernesto Che Guevara is probably the most beautiful, but also the longest via ferrata in the region. On over 1200 via ferrata meters the ferrata leads through the impressive wall of Monte Casale. The tour impresses above all with gigantic rock sceneries and the incredible feeling of being in a 1400m wall.
Difficulty C, 8h, 1400hm
Day 5
After the exhausting yesterday, we take it a little easier today. We drive a little further into the Sarca Valley towards Castel Drena. The via ferrata of the same name leads through the wildly romantic gorge of the Rio Sallagoni. This via ferrata also needs a little bit of strength. An overhanging cross passage in the gorge, needs a lot of arm strength to overcome it. The route takes us through the almost jungle-like gorge of the Rio Sallagoni until we can enjoy the sun again below the Castell Drena.
With a coffee at the castle we let the wonderful week end and review the experiences oft he last days.
Difficulty C, 1,5-2h, 210hm
