The Oberreintal is one of the most traditional and pristine alpine climbing areas in the northern Limestone Alps. In the midst of this rough rocky idyll is the rustic Oberreintalhütte, which despite some innovations in recent years has still been preserved in a very pleasant and traditional way. After the approx. 3 hour ascent, this hut offers an ideal starting point to leave everyday worries behind and to devote ourselves fully to traditional alpine climbing over the next three days. In order to slowly get used to the peculiarities of the beautiful but wild Oberreintal, we deliberately keep the group size very small to take care of individual Needs.
1. day: First of all, we meet early at the ski stadium in Partenkirchen and start the path through the "Partnachklamm" up into the Oberreintal. Once there, we first enjoy the mighty backdrop and refresh our knot-techniques to bring us all up to the same level. Afterwards, a climbing garden near the hut invites us. There we learn the rope team process and rope commands, as well as practicing safe abseiling. After dinner we plan our tour for the coming day and enjoy the evening in the flair of the Oberreintalhütte.
2. day: After breakfast we head for the wall. There we take the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the use of mobile protection devices - i.e. hooks and friends. During the wonderful climbing tour with a deep view, we can perform and practice an assessment of the quality and strength of different hook systems. During the descent, the abseiling learned at the lecture is deepened. When we arrive at the hut, we first let our minds dangle in the afternoon sun and then go back to the two extremely interesting and important subject areas of building a stance and placing hooks. After dinner we browse the climbing guide and look for a new destination for the next day.
3. day In the past two days we have learned a lot about alpine climbing. We would like to apply this knowledge in practice today in the final climbing tour. Depending on personal ability and self-assessment, we slowly work our way up to independent climbing in alpine terrain and defuse large distances between hooks or bolts by placing wedges or friends. After completing the tour, we say goodbye to the Oberreintal and march back into the valley.
