Description

Rise once on the Alpspitze (2628 m), the landmark of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
With a mountain guide and safety equipment of the Alpine School of Garmisch this dream can come true. The Alpspitz ferrata is a very well insured and relatively easier fixed rope route. Thus, it is well suited for climbing beginners.
Nevertheless also experienced climbing trail walkers should have visited the Alpspitze due to the impressive views over Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Werdenfelser Land and  the summit of the Zugspitze.
We meet early on the counter of the Alpspitzbahn cable car and take the first car after a brief equipment check. Arrived at the mountain station we traverse about 15 minutes under the north face of the Alpspitze and there make a briefing in the security equipment. After that nothing precludes the entry in the "ferrata".
Initially relatively steep we go on the wire rope secured and on step pins impressively upstairs. The then slightly flatter section invites you to take a look into the Höllental valley with the Höllentalferner glacier and the Zugspitze. We finally reach the edge of the North West Ridge and have only a few, but exciting metres to the Summit cross the Alpspitze.

From there we have a breathtaking view into the Werdenfelser Land and enjoy our snack in the sun.
The descent follows the beautiful east ridge and the north wall trail over which we reach in about 1.5 hours the mountain station again and take the cable car to the valley.
