Many people, including more and more children, are discovering ski touring for themselves, be it through parents or friends who are enthusiastic about ski tours or simply because of the overall strong increase in ski tourers, including on the slopes. Suddenly some are going up on their own with skis and no longer have to line up at the lifts.
But ski touring is definitely a strenuous sport, especially if you just start without having dealt with the topic at least a little bit. With this course we want to help all newcomers who just want to try out whether the whole thing is something for them at all. Almost anyone can participate, young or old. The course is also particularly suitable for children from the age of 8, who find it difficult at the beginning with the often steep ski slopes in our region. However, you should have a certain level of fitness, skiing skills and, above all, fun with movement.
We set our course on the Kranzberg in beautiful Mittenwald and here we have the opportunity to make the ascent a little more individual. From slopes that are not too steep to gently rising routes off the same slopes, we can adapt the ascent to the wishes of the participants. During the ascent, the mountain guide gives you many useful tips and tricks on the essential points for ski touring, such as walking technique and walking rhythm on different snow surfaces, the correct use of poles and the sensible use of climbing aids. The topics of ski technology and binding systems can also be dealt with, which is important for all those who may not yet have their own ski touring set and would like to find out about the possibilities before buying.
You can also take part in this course if you don't have your own ski touring equipment and just want to try it out. In this case, all you would have to do is rent ski touring equipment from one of the numerous providers in Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Mittenwald. After a leisurely stop for refreshment, the descent can also take place back on the piste, so that anyone who has basic skiing technique and - not quickly but safely - comes down the mountain can take part.
Anyone who is hooked on ski touring after this course and would like to continue their education can register for one of our many other ski touring courses here. We would be happy to advise you on this.
