Daily stages:
Day 1 (walking time: 5-6h / distance: 15km / ascent: 460hm / descent: 200hm)
We start at the Olympic ski jumping stadium in Garmisch and make our way to hike through one of the highlights of the tour - the impressive "Partnachklamm". Then it goes over the "Eckbauer"and the "Wamberger Rücken" towards Schloss Elmau, where the "fairytale king" Ludwig II often stayed. After we let the soul dangle here a bit, we continue on to our day's destination - the beautifully situated Hotel Lautersee. We may be lucky there and the impressive Wetterstein ridge is reflected in the beautiful Lautersee.
Day 2 (walking time: 4-6h / distance: 13km / ascent: 550hm / descent: 300hm)
After an extensive breakfast in the sun, we start our ascent to the "Ederkanzel" viewpoint. After a short break we descend from here into the impressive "Leutascher Geisterklamm" and search for the legendary ghost "Klammgeist". Our onward journey leads us through the original Leutasch Valley to the really beautiful 4-star adventure hotel Hubertushof. The indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and massages let us quickly forget the stresses of the day.
Day 3 (walking time: 3-6h / distance: 15km / ascent: 550 / 1050hm / descent: 300 / 750hm)
Today begins with a 15-minute taxi transfer from the hotel to the Salzbach parking lot, from where we will ascend to the beautiful Gaistal. Depending on our current motivation, we can choose between a somewhat longer but beautiful mountain hiking trail via the "Steinerne Hüttl" or an easier and shorter route along the "Leutascher Ache". In any case, today we will always move along the steep rock faces of the southern Wetterstein massif. With a bit of luck, we will meet chamois and marmots on our way today. The goal of the tour is the Ehrwalder Almbahn with which we shorten the way to Ehrwald a little. Today's Romantik Hotel Spielmann is also a real hit and will ensure that the tired legs are fresh the next day.
Day 4 (walking time: 3h / distance: 7.5km / ascent: 280hm / descent: 490hm)
After yesterday’s long day, we’re going to be a bit more relaxed today and prepare for the highlight of the tour - the Zugspitze - where we’ll have a leisurely lunch. Before we get there, we take a taxi to the valley station of the Ehrwalder Zugspitzbahn cable car and start our hike from there to the beautifully located Hochtörlenhütte, where we might even be able to treat ourselves to a small wheat beer today :-)
From there, the only thing waiting is the descent to the wonderful mountain lake Eibsee. The bright blue water actually seems a bit unreal at times - just beautiful! After we have really savored the moment, we go to the cable car that takes us to the summit of the Zugspitze. Here we will really enjoy our lunch together and then take the rack railway back down to the valley. The slow, picturesque drive from the Zugspitzplatt through some beautiful towns to the main train station in Garmisch forms the end of the tour.
